The Chefs of Worcester
Worcester's Wine Cellar
All about salad:
This unassuming Vietnamese restaurant on Park Avenue, Dalat, did a great Bo Luc Lat; I would return again—though I would ask if my selection was spicy!
The Fix’s take on a salad: a huge classic burger, grilled perfectly, on top of an iceberg lettuce wheel, finished with soft Brioche roll croutons.
I was pleased to see my meal from Livia’s Dish arrive overflowing with fresh mixed greens, chopped peppers, ripe tomatoes, and huge piece of grilled salmon.
I started with the House Made Grape Leaves (6) for an appetizer at Le Mirage which were very tasty although entirely vegetarian. For my main course I chose the Grilled Salmon with rice pilaf and fresh vegetables with an added Winter Harvest Salad (mixed greens topped with apricots walnuts and crumbled goat cheese lightly tossed with […]
Having never been to a restaurant specializing in middle eastern cuisine like Le Mirage, I was determined to order a dish that I, perhaps embarrassingly, had never heard of. I selected the Baked Kibbie, which the menu informed me came with housemade rice pilaf, fresh vegetables, and a side salad. The side salad, full of […]
I love Shrewsbury Street in the summer — it’s ok to be casual. Wear shorts, sit outside, or sit inside by an open window — it just feels like a summer thing to do. The Parkway Diner with it’s additional dinning space, bar, and large open window facing the street is one of many options. I went there again […]
I always look forward to dining at a new restaurant. Despite the fact that Worcester has hundreds of restaurants scattered throughout the city, I tend to visit the same circuit week after week. While I had been reading mixed reviews about Lago Ristorante, my palate was ready to visit this new establishment, and form my […]
My lasting impression of Lago Ristorante on Mill Street in Worcester ended up being much more favorable than my first. From the outside it just doesn’t look like much, but once you get inside and see the long bar extending almost all the way across the room on one side and the picture windows overlooking Coes Reservoir […]
My first question when hearing about Lago Ristorante was, “It’s where?” It is a bit off the beaten path and the exterior is lacking, but the interior has a nice ambience. The standard menu is typical Italian with a few twists on old favorites. The list of specials that night was extensive and the word used to […]
Caffe Espresso Trattoria has long been a favorite in Worcester for outstanding Italian cuisine made from traditional recipes, the highest quality ingredients and prepared with a homemade touch. Since the restaurant is BYOB, my dining partner and I stopped at the liquor store (strategically located directly across the street) and grabbed a special bottle of […]
Restaurant: Ritual, Main Street The Facts: Mydia: Steamed mussels in light wine herb infused broth, Art: Artisan cheeses, cured meats, olives, roasted vegetables, assorted nuts and bread Foodie’s Review: The steamed mussels arrived and they were overflowing from the bowl, the Mydia was an appetizer, and this was a generous portion! They were served with […]
Restaurant: Ritual, Main Street The Facts: Dodoni feta, romaine, greek olives, topped with olive tomato tapenade and tea poached egg. Foodie’s Review: When my salad arrived, my first impression was “wow, this salad is enormous.” I was amazed at the sheer size of it. When I tell you it could have easily fed two people […]
Romaine lettuce topped with granny smith apple slices, Gorgonzola cheese, smoked almonds and dried cranberries. Tossed within a white balsamic vinaigrette sauce. Claimed to be one of the most popular items on the menu since day one.
As it appears on the Menu: Crispy baby spinach, dried cranberries, red onion, fire roasted tomatoes and crumbled chèvre served with Apple cider vinaigrette dressing. The Facts on the Dish: Small but with a generous amount of goat cheese. Review: The salad was good but would have benefited from more spinach, but the roasted tomatoes […]
